The home and gym edition are for indoor use. The LED displays are not well suited to direct sunlight and the enclosure is not waterproof.

What heart rate monitors will it work with?

The Apple Watch can be used to provide real time heart rate monitoring or a third party Bluetooth heart tracker can be used.

The Flex Timer app can integrate with any heart rate monitor that supports the bluetooth heart rate profile. This open standard allows any app to integrate with any heart rate monitor without tying you in to a vendor specific application.

Unfortunately, some companies do not follow this standard and instead use a proprietary protocol so that only their apps or their approved partner's apps can integrate with their technology.

The following chest strap heart rate monitors will work with the Flex Timer:

The following wristband/armband heart rate monitors will work with the Flex Timer:

Follow the in-app connection guide available in the drawer menu (top left of the main screen). There are instructions unique to both iOS and Android.

That didn't work, what else can I try?

For Samsung users, please follow these instructions as well: We have received numerous reports of issues with our timer and the Samsung Galaxy Devices after they update to Android 10. Prior to Android 10, they worked fine. The issues seems to only be with the latest update.
Unfortunately, since we did not make any changes on our end, this issue appears to be limited to only Samsung Galaxy devices. Additionally, there are numerous complaints online about this impacting BTLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) with other BT devices as well.
The best links we have found to solve this issue are here:

We passed these along to other customers who were facing similar issues and they were able to get it working again using the first link and the clear bluetooth cache step or the clear bluetooth history step.

For iOS users, please follow these instructions as well:
Go to the iOS settings app. Scroll down to Flex Timer and select it. Ensure Bluetooth permissions are enabled for the Flex Timer app
